  • Abstract:
    Construction firms, like most other organizations and individuals have compelling instincts and motivations to survive and grow. Growth of firms is achieved by increasing the firm size, increasing the profit, increasing market share, beating competitors, or building up equity and capital. This dissertation is concerned with a dynamic model of construction firms in the U.S.A., by using System Dynamics theory and a simulation language called "DYNAMO" to investigate the variables governing the growth process and to determine the rate of growth of these firms. The objective of using simulation is to examine different growth scenarios in order to come up with the best growth strategies to be recommended to chief-executive officers of construction firms.
